After working with thousands of small business owners to help them improve their business systems over that past 30 years, there are certain comments I've heard over and over again.

Comments like,

'That sounds too simple,'
or,
'That's pretty obvious.'
or,
'Something that easy can't possibly work.'

I have to smile every time I hear things like that from business owners. There is a wide-spread misconception that concepts, strategies or ideas have to be complicated to be of any use.

Or, the ideas have to be 'brand new,' never heard of before, if they are to have any value.

Simple, Effective Solutions Work

I've seen it happen again and again, a client is given the most effective solution to their marketing or management problem, and they resist putting it into practice because they feel it's just too simple, too easy to work.

Thirty years ago, I'm sure I felt the same way. I probably felt that if the simple, familiar solutions really worked, then everyone would be using them, and they wouldn't still be searching for something new.

But that was before I began to understand human nature.

The solutions that work almost always take work! And that is something that most people want to avoid at all costs.

So they are forever searching for the magic pill, the one secret that will allow them to achieve success without any work or persistence on their part.

It took me years and years of hard work, thousands of hours of research and practice before I finally had the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in management and marketing.

And I can tell you without a shadow of doubt -- there is no such thing as a free ride. Anything worth achieving is going to take time and effort. If you want to reach the mountain top -- you are going to have to climb.

That's the bad news.

The Good News

The good news is -- and there is actually a lot of good news -- if you are willing to work, then there is no reason for you not to succeed in growing your business to new incredible heights of success. It can actually be fun.

The other good news is -- it is 'not' crowded at the top. It's actually much, much more crowded at the 'bottom.'

When you accept the concept of 'working' on your business, and actually start doing the work, you are automatically lifted to a new height above the crowd, since a very small number of people are willing to 'do the work.'

It's Not What You Say or What You Believe That Matters - It's What You DO That Matters

The bulk of my consulting career was spent, not on coming up with effective management and marketing systems -- that was the easy part -- no, the bulk of my efforts were focused on getting my clients to actually 'DO' the systems.

Time and time again, I would hear, 'Yes. I'm very familiar with that system or concept. And I already believe in it.'

That's what they would 'say.' But that was very different from what they would 'Do.'

Don't ever forget this... 'It doesn't matter what you say, It only matters what you do.' Because until you actually do something, nothing happens.

My past clients know that I am about the most persistent person on the planet. So I would not give up on my clients.

I would keep encouraging them to take the needed action, until they finally would do it. And, I'm happy to say, in almost every case, my clients succeeded. And once they succeeded, they were then 'convinced,' and would never turn back.

So, what are some of those simple concepts? There are literally hundreds of them, and every one of them can make a significant contribution to your success.
