How to Password Protect USB Drive

Posted: 30 Mar 2012 07:30 AM PDT

USB Flash Security is an app designed by Kashu System Design, a Japanese company which allows users to create and set passwords for their USB pen drives for securing files in their drive. It is always a major worry if you have lost your phone or flash drive and have some extremely sensitive and important data in it that you don't want anybody else to see.

It is always advised to secure and create backups of these files as you never know when something untoward can happen. USB Flash Security can help relive some of that tension by setting passwords for your drives so that even if it gets lost, you know that nobody else can access it without the password.

USB Flash Security will install itself only to removable drive, i.e, only to drive which can be removed and connected to systems. Also make sure that you have backed up all the data from the drive before proceeding as installing this software will delete all data inside attached external drive. Once you have made sure of this, click on Install to start the installation process on the flash drive.

You will be prompted to create a password for the drive. Type in the password of your choice. You can even set a password hint for your password and the hint will be displayed when you hover the mouse cursor over the input bar. Click OK to proceed. The installation will start and should take not more than a few seconds. Once it is installed, you can access the drive only by entering the password and you can then start moving files into the drive. Those files will always remain secure with the password that you have set.
