Social Media System: How to Get It All Done for August’s Bonus Webinar

Posted: 06 Aug 2012 12:25 PM PDT

It’s the #1 question I get from new clients:

“I don’t know where to start and I’m overwhelmed. How do I get it all done?”

I’m pulling back the curtain and giving you a backstage pass to exactly how I accomplish all of my social media: content development, sharing, measurement, scheduling, and a system to get it all done.

You won’t believe how simple it can actually be. Even though social media is my business, I spend very little time doing it. I spend far more time on email, phone calls, consulting, course development, and accounting (the same activities any small business owner needs to do).

But it hasn’t always been this way. I remember, early on, when I was promoting my book, I started out with a blog.  I was overwhelmed at the idea of having so many social media accounts and an email newsletter. What on earth was I going to say in all of it?

It took me years to develop a finely-tuned system that works for me every week, no matter what emergencies crop up in my business.

Remember: this webinar is available for August only, and it disappears in September. You just need to be a registered student in any class here at SocialMediaOnlineClasses.com. If you’re not, don’t wait to register for your class. The webinar will be available only this month, then it’s gone!

Lesson 22: Can Pinterest Increase SEO?

Get Informed

A lot of people still haven’t figured out Pinterest, but it’s pretty simple: it’s a visual social network themed around a bulletin board. You create themed bulletin boards by pinning images (either yours or others from around the web), and share them with other Pinterest users. The great news? Pinterest does affect your SEO surprisingly well for a social network with very little text.

Again, if you’re not on Pinterest and don’t plan to use it, you can skip this lesson. But if you’re curious or you’re already using Pinterest, watch the video to find out how you can make simple changes to your existing account and get improved search engine results.

Get Trained

Go Do It

Here’s how to modify your Pinterest account for improved SEO:

  1. First, edit your profile and include keywords in it. Don’t feel like you need to create an entirely new account with a keyword in the title. If you don’t already have a Pinterest account, go for it — it’s a terrific way to rank highly on search. Otherwise, simply ensuring you’re adding keywords in your bio is enough.
  2. Edit your bulletin board titles and descriptions to include keywords. Do this naturally. I have a colleague who uses the same wording in every single board she creates, and it’s pretty obvious she’s doing it for the SEO boost. She’s definitely not instilling credibility, and she knows it, but it’s worth it to her to get the SEO results. It’s not a strategy I recommend.
  3. Repeat step 2 for your pins as well. Make the descriptions and titles short and pithy (a fun element of Pinterest is its playfulness), and include those keywords!
  4. Don’t feel like you need to use the same keywords in every board and pin. Even if you have few keywords, vary them. As long as you’re getting users’ attention with one pin or board, it’s likely they’ll look at your others too.
