On Page SEO Checklist in Creating Excellent Content

Dated: 08 August,2012

Hi there! I appreciate you for visiting my blog. I thank you so much for spending your precious time reading my articles. Well, it's a busy day for me today because I have a lot of contents to catch up at pampangadirectory.net. If you are not aware, it's currently my main project.

On Page SEO ChecklistNevertheless, I consider my readers special so I don't want them to miss a day without a special present from me. Here's a quick yet useful guide that you can use on your on page optimization.

For today's article, I will give you my own On Page SEO Checklist. I use this checklist to observe on page SEO factors that signals Google an optimized content page worthy of ranking high on search engine results page.

Here's my On Page SEO Checklist

  1. Title Tag. This is probably the most important on page SEO factor so apply accurate title tags with your target keyword for that page. As much as possible, use 60 characters or less because this will appear in the clickable link of the search engine results page (SERP). However, do not neglect that your readers are your first audience so fixing just the title tags of your pages can often generate quick and appreciable differences to your readers and rankings.
  2. Description Tag. Apply correct and supportive description to give details what the page is about. Usually 160 characters or less, the contents of the meta description tag are what appears directly beneath that title: a summary of that search result. if you don't incorporate a meta description tag in your page, Google will instead decide a "random" snippet of the content text. Occasionally this is the first sentence; otherwise it's the sentence or paragraph that includes the first instance of the keyword the user entered in the search engine.
  3. H Tags. Use keyword rich heading tags to dissect segments and subsections about your page content. H1, H2 & H3 tags have traditionally been weighted more than standard text by search engines. This is a wise move by search engines because it provides it users with better user experience. In choosing words to transform as headings, bear in mind that it should support the thought established in the Title and Meta Description by using one of the page’s top keywords
  4. Image Alt Tags. Use keywords relevant to your images in your alt tags. According to Google's webmaster guidelines -" Use the alt attribute to provide descriptive text. In addition, we recommend using a human-readable caption and descriptive text around the image." This is because; search engines have the same problem as blind users. They cannot see the images.
  5. Internal Links. Whenever possible, internally link your home page or a previous post relative to a keyword in your content. Internal links are important SEO factors as well. At the same time, it will reduce the bounce rate percentage of your site.
  6. Bold and Italicize. Highlight important keywords in your content by making the text bold or italics. This improves reader usability and search engine rankings by adding emphasis on relevant keyword on the content. Bold and italicize your keywords in your content, just don’t overdo it!
  7. LSI Keywords. LSI stands for Latent Semantic Indexing. In simple terms it is just how Google decides what your page is about. All you have to do is read through your content and see where you can tweak and add them, without unbalancing your copy. In this case, I use the Google Keyword Research Tool or Google Analytics Tool. Try not to overuse one keyword and instead find variations of it that can help expand the visibility of your pages to more searchers.
  8. Keyword Density. Google did not specifically identify the number of times a keyword must show again. However, it is unethical to overuse a keyword in your content because it may appear spam. According to some SEO experts, keep it under 3% keyword density of the overall content text.
  9. Word Count. As my preference, I keep my article contents a minimum of 700 words.

Do you have other on page SEO factor to add on my list? Let's talk about them by leaving your points of view in the comments section.
