Breakfast at Aloft India

Today is my third day in Chennai, India. I just came back from my breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. It’s 10:00 am and I’m in front of my laptop thinking what to write about today. It took me quite some time to decide what to write about because I had a lot of ideas popping inside my head but I can’t seem to put them in place. And so I said, I have to set up my writing plan.

Just like any bloggers, I feel like I should blog more frequently but I just got so much going on. I have my job, I have to sleep, I have to update Pampanga Directory as well, there’s just so much to do. Here's what I came up which I would think could solve my problem and save my sanity from thinking too much what to write about (or worse, nothing to write about).

I have to be true to myself and to you as my readers that I still often times struggle to schedule blog posts ahead. How I wish I have the whole month's worth of blog posts written, uploaded in WordPress and scheduled.

What I realize today is that, blogging and writing even a short post takes time. But I don't have to wait until the last minute to write them if I want to get the most out of these ideas.

Below are some ideas for quick blog post which you and I can keep in front of our computers for those times we can't decide what to write about, haven't got a minute to spare, or haven't got the inspiration to write about.

Helpful ideas for quick blog posts

  • Photo of the day – Anything at all? Well, it could be any image of your accomplishments, a photograph of your business trip or an image in your industry. Talk about them in your blog. Let your readers feel and have a visual of what your environment is.
  • Question and Answer – Answer one of the questions you're always asked about. Or ask your audience in Facebook and Twitter then collate them all in your blog. Lastly, you can prepare a collaborative Q&A to your team or any in your industry about a focused topic on your business.
  • Post a single tip – Every post does not need to be ground-breaking all the time. Some readers still prefer single, quick, concise yet useful blog post. You can still make an impression even with a simple tip post.
  • Tell something personal – Good thing about this idea is – showing your readers that you're a human being. People would like to know that the blog they read is written by a real-breathing person and not just from an automated aggregated blog. With this, you give your readers the opportunity to connect with you in a more intimate level. That's building relationship, and it's the best thing.
  • Meet the team – Let your readers know more about your team or your group. Give our business a "face" or a profile through your members. You can have them fill out a simple questionnaire with their candid photo in the post.
  • Weekly wrap up – Maintain a list of good contents that you find valuable and noteworthy to share and then combine then I a post. This includes the blogs that you visited and read, as well as some of your best works pulled from your archive.
  • Create a 101 for newbie readers in your industry – Even if we have become an expert in our field, don't be too submerge with the authority that we tend to forget those who are just starting to clasp in what we do. Don't mark down the simple stuffs. It may seem understandable to you, but maybe not to everyone. Be ready to explain your business to newbies.

On a final note, I don't believe we should feel guilty if we sometimes run out of inspiration or time to write a post. It only shows that were still normal people capable to feel limitations in our ability or skill. But then again, with some simple planning and inspiration what to do, we can save ourselves from writer's block.

I feel happy and privileged to share with you my simple ideas for quick blog posts. What do you think about these? Do you have other tips and tricks to add?
