2. Add Another Offer to an Existing Marketing System

Irene, the owner of a small fast food business, asked us if we could help her increase her phone-in orders. She said that phone-in orders helped her business in a number of ways. First they increased her sales because phone-in orders are generally much larger than walk-in orders, and second, they shortened the ordering lines, improving customer service and order delivery times.

She said she didn't have a whole lot of extra money for promotion.

After looking at her current marketing systems we were happy to inform her that she could easily increase her phone-in orders -- without any increase in time, money or effort.

She looked at us skeptically until we shared our system 'improvement' with her.

Irene was already offering a special discount for phone-in orders and she was also handing out a letter-fold menu to promote her products to each customer.

We recommended adding her discount coupon promoting her phone-in orders to the front panel of her handout menu. This way in addition to getting the menu promoting her products, they also received a discount offer for phoning in their order.

Within a few weeks Irene was generating over 150 additional Phone-In orders each week. This simple system improvement had an immediate and dramatic impact on her overall sales as well as her customer service.

Remember, this was accomplished with no additional time, money or effort.

3. A Picture is Worth . . . Thousands !

Tim, the owner of a custard stand, got a tremendous boost in sales when he added large pictures of his Specialty Sundaes to his text-only menu board.

The pictures attract immediate attention, and create intense desire. Those custard sundaes and delicious toppings make his customers drool.

Okay, this one improvement did take a bit of time, money and effort to take the pictures -- but we had him use his own digital camera, and a friend of his laminated the pictures for a very reasonable price -- minimal investment.

This one, simple improvement boosted his Specialty Sundae sales by 35%. That small investment produced a terrific increase that will continue to pay off month after month, year after year. With no additional investment of time, effort or money. Needless to say, Tim was very pleased with his marketing system improvement.

4. Package for Profit

There is no better time to sell someone additional items than when they are already in a buying mood.

That's why whenever you respond to an infomercial, the representative on the phone line will almost always offer you add-ons or larger quantities for a special price. A good percentage of callers will consistently say 'Yes.' That's extra sales and profit for the business.

Also, people generally do not like going through the trouble of figuring out which accessories are the best to go with their primary purchase.

They would love it if you would assemble the best package of accessories or additional items for them. They would love it even more if you would then give them a special price for buying the entire package.

Fast food businesses do this nicely with their special Combo Meal Deals - Sandwich, Fries and a Drink for a special price. But any product or service business can improve their sales by simply packaging their products or services with a special price for their customers.

Take a look at your business and determine which products or services could be packaged together. Perhaps you could even offer a choice of Good, Better, Best packages.

Provide a nice incentive discount on each package and then let your customers know about the special packages you offer.
