Mozilla Firefox – This Connection is Untrusted

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 10:00 AM PDT

As I mentioned in my review of Bitdefender Total Security 2013, I ran into an issue where Mozilla Firefox would display a certificate error on my screen when I accessed my Gmail account. In fact the error appeared whenever I access any page within Google, and only Firefox displayed the error, and no other Web browser.

After some quick research into the problem, I managed to trace the problem to Bitdefender Total Security 2013, and then find what tool within that security suite was causing the problem. Below are the steps I used to solve the issue so I could access Gmail from within Firefox.

Mozilla Firefox – This Connection is Untrusted Issue

Whenever I accessed any Web page from within Google I always received the following error message within Mozilla Firefox:

This Connection is Untrusted

There was more details to the issue than just that message on the screen. In fact, there was also some Technical Details that helped to narrow down the issue I encountered within the browser that was related to the certificate.

The full message can be seen in the image below:

To find out more about the certificate problem, I did the following:

  1. I click the “I Understand the Risks” option to expand that section.
  2. From within that section I then clicked the “Add Exception…” button.
  3. firefox add exception 620x460 Mozilla Firefox This Connection is Untrusted

  4. While I didn’t want to add a security section, I can find out more information about the certificated by click the “View…” button.
  5. firefox view certificate details Mozilla Firefox This Connection is Untrusted

  6. When the certificate general details were displayed, I noticed that the “Issued By” section listed Bitdefender as the organization, as shown below.

Once I looked at the certificate details, I began to find the solution to my problem.

This Connection is Untrusted Solution

When I noticed that Bitdefender was mentioned I immediately thought about the fact that Bitdefender Total Security 2013 was installed on my desktop. From there I began to look through the settings, and eventually I found the one that was causing the problem.

These are the steps I used to correct the issue:

  1. I double-clicked the Bitdefender Total Security 2013 icon in the system tray (lower-right corner).
  2. bitdefender system tray icon Mozilla Firefox This Connection is Untrusted

  3. I then clicked on the privacy settings icon from the Bitdefender home windows.
  4. bitdefender privacy settings icon 620x416 Mozilla Firefox This Connection is Untrusted

  5. Next, I click the status button for the “Scan SSL” option to turn it off.
  6. bitdefender privacy control settings ssl scan on 620x416 Mozilla Firefox This Connection is Untrusted

  7. Once the status icon for “Scan SSL” indicated it was off, shown below, I then returned to the home window of Bitdefender.
  8. bitdefender privacy control settings ssl scan off 620x416 Mozilla Firefox This Connection is Untrusted

After performing the above steps I opened Firefox and accessed my Gmail account. Sure enough, no certificate error was reported and I as able to access my e-mail without any issues. I’m not sure what effect turning off “Scan SSL” will have on security, but I have had other security software installed without such an option, so I’m not too worried.

Perhaps there is another fix, or a patch for Bitdefender Total Security 2013, but until that time I can keep “Scan SSL” turned off.

A Brief Overview of Billomat

Posted: 07 Aug 2012 05:00 AM PDT

Billomat is not a desktop program or software. This means that you cannot install it on your computer. It is a tool which can be employed for online billing which is completely internet based. Therefore you can only use it online.

The first and foremost aim of Billomat is to assist the users to concentrate on the job, and tiresome writing out invoices and quotes is not generally part of this.

Billomat is well acquainted with the difficulties which many trades and professionals face. Moreover, many of them try their fortune with apparently convenient accounting programs; however, they are soon disillusioned and resigned for giving up since many programs are very much complicated. Billomat general principle is: “as small as it is possible, as much it is necessary”.

The efficiency of the operation (employing Billomat) is a key consideration. In continuing to develop the software we do not worry about the new functions we should add – Billomat is more concerned about which function users do not need it plus which would act as the "dead weight" in the operation of the whole program.

The Billomat Strengths

The simplest routine which Billomat offers to the customers is quick and straightforward creation of quotes and invoices. An important aspect of the process is also the simple management of customer's data, articles and products. When the invoice is created, it can also be dispatched directly through email (with digital signature if required), fax or letter.

It could not be simpler! All the data (documents) are then automatically stored with appropriate customer and in the same way it is always readily available. It is also called as "practical CRM (Customer Relationship Management)". All the information on customers (particularly the customer's transaction history) is also available by only browsing on the Internet. Therefore, the seeking for invoices, quotes, telephone numbers, addresses etc. is extremely easy.

The online invoicing is paperless and is the most competent way of managing invoicing (especially for small businesses). The paper based system for invoicing needs more time and resources.

The other advantage of online invoicing is that you can easily verify all activities; there are very small chances of mistake. The online invoicing further saves a lot of time and is much more efficient!
