Important of having a strong Mailing List

You may heard most SEO experts and webmasters are talking about mailing lists. They always tell you that mailing lists are very important for each and every blogger. But as newbies most of are not aware of mailing lists. They are asking what is a mailing list? what are the functions of a mailing list? what can I do with a mailing list? What are the importance of a mailing list? How much is it important to have a mailing list? Should I add a mailing list to my blog? and etc. So I thought to write a quick article to address those all the question in one post.

With a mailing list you can send notifications to your readers or subscribers as bulk e mails. You can send bulk notifications, current deals and etc.

Just think you made some change for the prices of your products. Think you reduce the price of a product. But your customers don’t know that you have reduced your price. The search engines take time to update their indexes. So it take weeks or even month to appear on search engines. But by using a mailing list you can acknowledge your customers that you have reduced the price of that particular product within seconds.

You can inform offers and discounts that you have within seconds to your customers. Sending e mail is an easy process. Everyone can do it. So by using this easy method you can acknowledge your customers about the new offers and discounts.

What are the importance of a Mailing List?

Without a mailing list, you have to depend on search engines for ever. Simply search engines are the major source of traffic building. But think if you don’t have a good SEO position, your page will not be appeared on #1 page of the search engines. So you will not be able to get good traffic. This occurs usually not due to poor SEO but due to search engine algorithm changes. Once algorithm changes your site will go down in the SERP (Search Engine Result Page). But if you have a strong mailing list, you can always send notifications to the customers. So you will not depend on the search engines for traffic.

Repeated customers are the backbone of a business. Depending on the amount of repeated customers you will get sales. The Mailing List provide you the chance to get your visitors back to your site.

Every business has competitors. If your competitor have a strong mailing list than you, he will get more visitors and therefore more sales than you. So having a strong list is vital to compete with your competitor too.

This is the next question you are going to ask from me, isn’t it? Yes, this is the most important question indeed. I have seen most of the people or websites are selling mailing lists for cheaper as well as higher prices. But is this the method of having a good mailing list? Absolutely not. But why? If you have email addresses, isn’t that all enough? No, it is not enough. What you need is more customers for your business. Not just e mail addresses. By sending emails to those people, you also will become a email spammer. So there is no point of buying a mailing list. What you need to do is, collect individual emails who are interested in your business. Those are the potential customers.

At the same time you must display a sign up form for your customers. By using this, you can easily send newsletters to your potential customers. The other method is adding a feed subscription link to your website. So the interested people will sign up with your business. They are the potential customers of your business.

I have seen some people are giving some incentives for users when they are joining the email list. As an example most blogging sites are giving e books on blogging or blogging related content to the new subscribers. This method is bit controversial. I leave it for you to decide whether it is good or bad.
