Lessons on how to succeed at Internet Marketing can be
found in the most unlikely of places.
I stumbled across a great one last night while reading a
bedtime story to my son, Thomas.
No, I wasn't reading him Breakthrough Advertising by
Eugene Schwartz or Influence by Robert Cialdini...
This pearl of marketing wisdom was laid bare in:
Kira the Koala.
Kira, as you can imagine, eats eucalyptus leaves like
they are going out of fashion.
However, she's fed up of them:
"Leaves, leaves, leaves" she huffed, "I'm tired of
eating leaves!"
So, she decides to try something new.
First, she tries grass... but doesn't like it.
Next, it's fruit... but again, doesn't like it.
She even tries some of the "wet squiggly things"
swimming in the river...
Unsurprisingly, she doesn't like them either.
After trying more stuff she doesn't like, Kira finally
eats what she does:
Eucalyptus leaves!
You may be like Kira right now as you try to succeed in
Internet Marketing...
While we're not talking about eating leaves, just like
they are good for a koala, you know full well building a
subscriber list and emailing them is good for your
business.
But, you're tempted by the marketing equivalent of lush
green grass, brightly coloured fruit and even the wet
squiggly things in the river...
So you have a little nibble at Kindle publishing...
Or take a bite out of the mobile apps market...
If you feel like making a real pig of yourself you may
even build fleets of worthless websites for Adsense
purposes.
Even though they all looked delicious, ultimately they
will leave a sour taste in your mouth...
And you'll return to email marketing because it leaves
your belly as full as your bank account!
