Seth Godin's Marketing Sin

I've been reading Seth Godin's blog a lot recently.

If you've not heard of Seth before he's the brains
behind Squidoo.com, the man who popularized the term
"permission marketing" and the author of numerous
marketing books, including one called All Marketers Are
Liars
.

If you are a liar, sorry, marketer yourself, he's
somebody you should pay attention to.

Recently, he wrote about seven marketing sins.

Although, they weren't really "marketing" sins at all...

More weaknesses we as human beings succumb to.

Things like:

Impatience...

Anger...

Jealousy... and a few others.

But the one I identified the most with:

Inconsistency.

Seth's take on it is:

"We're not paying that much attention, but when we do,
it helps if you are similar to the voice we heard from
last time"
.

Inconsistent marketing has been my downfall in the past.

I've hopped from niche to niche and tried countless
methods to make money online over the years.

Some worked very well... some did OK but some failed
spectacularly.

Even when I got involved in the Internet Marketing niche
it took me a while to find my feet.

My email marketing was all over the place too.

I've gone from one end of the scale from incessant ad
swapping, where my copy was just a sentence or two
followed by a link... all the way to writing full-blown
email newsletters that took hours to complete.

No wonder my subscribers stopped responding to me if
they had no idea what to expect from one day to the next.

However, I'm happy to say I've found a format I enjoy
and works incredibly well for me.

In case you're wondering, it's exactly what you're
reading now.

Writing a daily email (also published on my blog)
which is both valuable and fun has helped build a
stronger relationship with my subscribers, increased
sales and put me on the radar of "bigger" marketers who
wouldn't otherwise have given me a second glance.

The reason?

I am consistent in what I do.

I recommend you become this consistent too... even if
you can't think of anything to write!

You see, as an Inbox Rockstar member, it's not a problem
you will have...

Every month, you can download a minimum of 20 "fill in
the blanks" email marketing templates
that can be used
in any niche to promote any product of your choosing.

It's the easiest way to go from email marketing zero to
hero the very next time you mail out!

And all of those "sins" Seth talked about?

They will be issues "other marketers" have to deal
with... not you!
